Massage Therapists'
Association of Nova Scotia

Arthritis means joint inflammation and refers to more than 100 types of joint disorders. The causes of arthritis depend on the type you have. A rheumatologist is the medical specialist who can diagnose which of the conditions you have, and that information is needed to get the most effective treatment plan. Symptoms of joint pain and stiffness are common across the different types of this condition. Symptoms are intermittent and vary in intensity from mild to severe. Massage therapy can help clients with this condition by decreasing muscle tension and swelling around the joints and working with the client to help maintain as much range of motion as possible.
